Baffled reactions as US media pundit says we should ‘stop ranting about Putin’

Pundits on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show have struggled to hide their horror after a US media pundit apparently tried to defend Vladimir Putin’s actions in Ukraine.

Russian forces yesterday launched a missile attack on the Kyiv region for the first time in weeks and also pounded the northern Chernihiv region.

Six missiles launched from the Black Sea hit a military unit in the village of Liutizh on the outskirts of the capital, according to Oleksii Hromov, a senior Ukrainian general staff official.

Fifteen people were injured in the Russian strikes, including five civilians, with the attack seen as a response to Ukrainian Statehood Day, a commemoration President Volodymyr Zelensky instituted last year in defiance of Russian threats to the sovereignty of the country.

Discussing the issue on Piers Morgan Uncensored, US media pundit Ann Coulter showed little appetite to condemn the attacks.

“We dissed the Russians so much for so long,” she said, adding that “once the Soviet Union fell, NATO no longer made sense.”

Coulter went on to point out that “Ukraine was historically part of the Russian-influenced Empire” and asked why Americans “should care” in the face of increasingly bewildered reactions.

She also said “you can’t compare everything to Hitler” when Morgan pointed out that Americans were forced to intervene when the last war of this magnitude raged in Europe.

Coulter is no stranger to controversy.

After the September 11 attacks, she called for war with Muslim countries and cited the atrocities of World War II in Germany.

“We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren’t picky in locating and punishing only Hitler and his senior officers. We bombed German cities, we killed civilians. That’s war. And this is war,” she said.
