Asbury Park Police Lt. Kamil Warraich, founding president of the Muslim American Law Enforcement Association (MALEA), accepted the Law Enforcement Association of the Year award presented by the Police Captain to Donna Roman Hernandez, violence prevention specialist, retreat on August 22.

MALEA is an interfaith and interfaith nonprofit charitable organization, which was founded to recognize not only the contributions of Muslim law enforcement officials, but also all law enforcement professionals in the state. .

Since launching last summer, MALEA has participated in countless charity events serving the less fortunate during the pandemic, worked on several law enforcement bills and training programs, partnered with the Civil Service Commission and law enforcement agencies for recruiting events, held educational forums bringing together law enforcement officials and the Muslim community to get to know each other and dispel misconceptions on both sides.

MALEA is committed to the well-being and growth of its members and is on a mission to recognize the contributions of law enforcement officers throughout New Jersey.
