Sudha Setty named Dean of CUNY Law School

The City University of New York Board of Trustees has appointed Sudha Narayana Setty as Dean of the CUNY School of Law. She is the first person of South Asian descent to lead a CUNY school.

“I am thrilled and honored to be the next Dean of CUNY School of Law. This law school was founded with the mission of public service, social justice, inclusivity and accessibility,” Setty said in “In this moment, the nation and the world have recognized what CUNY has always known: that our society needs more lawyers trained in these core values ​​to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. . I look forward to working with all members of the CUNY community as the law school seeks to make the world a fairer, fairer, and better place.

Setty has served as dean of the Western New England University School of Law since 2018, becoming the first woman of South Asian descent in the United States to serve as dean of an ABA-accredited school. She has been a faculty member at the Western New England School of Law since 2006 and has been named Professor of the Year multiple times.

Setty’s appointment as Dean is effective July 1, 2022.
