The breach in the U.S. capital became a nationwide headline Thursday, with media generally covering the “Trump fan crowd” and footage showing guns being fired into the building.

The New York Times ran its daily issue with the headline “Trump incites the crowd,” citing a Republican lawmaker describing the evacuations that followed caused by the “rampage” as “part of his [Trump’s] heritage.”

The newspaper also called Americans at the gates of the building “the inevitable end of the Trump era.”

Also holding Trump responsible for the clashes, the Washington Post accused him of inciting the crowd to “acts of insurgent violence.”

“Senate rejects offer to quash Arizona results after pro-Trump rioters disrupt Congress,” was the corner of the Wall Street Journal, referring to an offer rejected by some GOP lawmakers for overturn election results in the state where President-elect Joe Biden was declared the winner.

He also mentioned the death of a woman shot by police on Capitol Hill, as well as the evacuation of lawmakers and others from the building.

Including the woman, at least four people have died after protesters breached the building.

The New York Post chose “Capital Invasion” as its headline, saying “Guns drawn to protect House from mob of Trump supporters.”

For its part, the Los Angeles Times ran its coverage with “Trump-incited mob storms the United States Capitol”, highlighting the four deaths and injuries of “several officers, 1 riot”.

In addition, the Democrats’ historic electoral victory in Georgia and their resulting control of the Senate have been reported in the press.

Trump supporters protesting Congressional certification of Biden’s presidential victory on Wednesday clashed with police, finally breached the Capitol building and surrendered to the Senate.
