WAM signs five agreements with Latin American media

The parties will exchange daily information in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic, to be used and disseminated on their platforms and those of their partners.

Emirates News Agency (WAM) has signed five new cooperation agreements with major media outlets in Latin America, as part of its efforts to promote the cultural and humanitarian message of the UAE worldwide in different languages.

The agreements were signed with the Mexican television channel ONCE, the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, the Brazilian press agency Folhapress, the Brazilian website UOL-Universo Online and the television channel TeleCuraçao in Curaçao, in the south of the Caribbean Sea.

The signing of these agreements is part of WAM’s efforts to strengthen its cooperation with equivalent international institutions and increase its global exposure. WAM has signed more than 19 international agreements at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The agreements were signed by Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Managing Director of WAM; Carlos Brito Lavalle, CEO of ONCE; Roberto Dias, editor of Folha de S. Paulo; Paulo Samia, CEO of UOL; and Hugo Lew Jen Tai, CEO of TeleCuraçao; and the representative of the general manager of Folhapress.

It promotes professional media cooperation between WAM and respective media establishments in exchanging information and media content, building long-lasting partnerships and improving relations between media establishments in the UAE and the Americas.

According to the agreements, the parties involved will exchange daily information in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic, as well as images and videos, to be used and disseminated on their platforms and those of their partners around the world. Relevant media materials can also be posted on their newsletters and distributed to their various media outlets in their countries.

Al Rayssi said the signing of such key deals with major Latin American media outlets at Expo 2020 Dubai is significant, as they underline the major success of the most important cultural event held in the UAE, which reinforces its international cooperation in various sectors.

He also pointed out that strengthening its cooperation with international media is part of WAM’s strategy to increase its geographic exposure, promote the UAE’s cultural message to the world. He noted that the success of Expo 2020 Dubai highlights the vision and direction of the UAE leadership and the country’s successful strategies.

He also expressed his joy at the participation of Latin American media establishments in the World Media Congress, which will be hosted by Abu Dhabi in November 2022.

Latin American media representatives said that increasing their media cooperation with WAM will enable them to benefit from the UAE’s international economic, development and humanitarian activities, as a key center for global decision-making.

They also expressed their admiration for the UAE’s success in hosting Expo 2020 Dubai for six months.
